- These meetings are designed specifically for persons interested in applying for a Habitat Home.

Home Buyer Education Workshop
- A comprehensive workshop to help first-time home buyers explore their purchase options.

Skills Classes
- Classes designed to help new homeowners better make the transition from renting to owning.

Persons wishing to apply for a Habitat for Humanity house should first attend this workshop to receive an application and instructions on how to apply.

Pre-purchase Decisions
Financial and Credit Preparation
Shopping for a Home
The Purchase Process
Mortgages and Loan Options
First-time Homebuyer Programs
Fair Housing and Equal Credit Opportunity
Post-purchase Considerations

Attendees who buy a house in Lowndes County may qualify for a $5000 grant towards their loan closing from funding set aside by Project Change.

Qualified workshop attendees may also be eligible for various low-interest loans and/or down-payment assistance through the GA Department of Community Affairs, USDA Rural Development, Habitat for Humanity, the City of Valdosta, or other similar programs.

Persons who attend the full-day Home Buyer Education Workshop may apply these hours to sweat equity IF they are later accepted as a Habitat for Humanity Partner Family.

Lunch will be provided.
No child-care available.

Mortgages and Legal Documents
Warranties and Insurance Coverage
Home Maintenance

Attendees who buy a house in the City of Valdosta Designated Revitalization Area may also qualify for up to a $5000 down-payment assistance loan that will be forgiven after 10 years in the house. All classes are required for Habitat Partner Families and applicants who wish to qualify for the City’s down payment assistance.

Persons who attend the Skills Classes may apply these hours to sweat equity IF they are later accepted as a Habitat for Humanity Partner Family.
